Land protection services

the organisation

How Ben Mapstone managed to fund the start up is unknown to the public (covered in the book). However he did it, he managed to amass a huge start up fund which he put to good use in 2028. Land Protection Services (LPS) was born overnight as the team of friends purchased a large old council office block. Ben, Lance, Mo and Michael had been training together for years and had a strong friendship, which quickly became a work obsessed, high standards team dynamic. They worked and trained non-stop. Each new employee of the company was given free gym membership as part of their job offer. One of the core beliefs set out from the beginning, which set them apart from others, was that everyone was encouraged to keep fit.

The main focus for the business was hard and soft security services any where in the world, alongside that they purchased property. Some of the larger contracts were a mixed security and facility management service. These contracts provided physical security guards on sites, maintenance engineers and the soft (computer systems) to monitor sites.

During 2029 a new member joined the team. A talented programmer called Charles, who became part of the main team that was often seen attending events and functions.

LPS grew fast by purchasing and integrating already established businesses. Often they paid over the market price and always offered the employees excellent perks. The team grew in staff numbers and skills, and was extremely loyal. One purchase that stood out and was discussed across the financial news columns, was the takeover of the second largest antivirus and firewall security software firm for £100 billion. Many believed this was the moment that the LPS organisation discovered their route to billions in profits.

Many of the LPS property purchases were believed to be off the books. No-one except the main management team really knows how many properties are owned, with many bought and sold monthly as part of their portfolio strategy. Accusations were often made that this was part of some huge money laudering operation.

the lps property

As mentioned above, many of the LPS property purchases were believed to be off the books, so it is impossible to know the true size of the organisation. The below are properties that are listed on the LPS accounts and of some value to the organisation. Not the hundreds of properties rented and leased.

SITE 1

Telecom Tower (London) was purchased as technology evolved and the site was becoming redundant. The grade II listed building was used as offices by LPS and the ground floors secured. This site was purchased ready for future events.

SITE 2

A huge converted underground car park with above ground storage and offices, that resides just outside of Birmingham. This site securely holds thousands of vehicles and machinery.

SITE 3 (Warehouse 3)

Warehouse 3 is a large multipurpose secure site, north west side of the country. Mostly a place for people who work for LPS to stay and work, support staff and security trained staff. The site is designed to be a secure town that has all amenities required to be a stand alone place to live. It also includes a large security staff training area.

SITE 4 (Warehouse 4)

The incrdedible Warehouse 4 site is a former army base that was sold off to LPS as the armed forces became more focused on the wars abroad. The heavily fortified site, just outside Oxford, included thousands of houses and a small bunker when purchased. Over the years billions was spent on developing the site. The expanded bunker can now, if needed, hold tens of thousands of people. The site has been expanded into the size of a large town with all the amentities required, plus more. There is an industrial area that focuses on producing their own products and technology. Further details about the site are hard to find out due to the high level of security, and the sky above is a no fly zone. Drones constantly patrol above and around the base. It is believed the site holds around one hundred thousand staff. The question many people ask is; what are LPS preparing for? Do they know something that the rest of us do not.

SITES 5 - 7

LPS has purchased three large agricutural sites that produce vast quatities of vegetables and fruits, barley, oats, dairy products and meats. Much of the produce is sold back to the UK market.

SITES 8-10

Manufacturing and technology factories. One of the factories produces all LPS clothing, footwear and associated products. Large quantities are held in storage and it is not clear what will happen to it all.
