Summary

The first book in the series focuses on Ben Mapstone, from childhood to adulthood. We get to know his broken family, visit his traumatic childhood, see how he rises to become the leader of a billion pound organisation called Land Protection Services (LPS).

We meet his crazy friends who are obsessed with training and violence. Through all this weaves the complicated back story of the mystical Freolans, who help Ben, and declare they are helping to keep humans in existence. However, as the story goes on, all is not as it seems with another huge organisation trying to wipe them off the map. Betrayal follows. Friendship bonds grow deep as they fight to save the world at every turn.
